Letter From Your 2022-2023 Editors-in-Chief

Dear in-Training family,

It is our pleasure to welcome you back as we start the 2022 academic year. This year promises to bring many challenges as the country’s sociopolitical climate, ongoing  pandemic and resulting practice of medicine continue to shift. Every challenge, however, creates an opportunity for change and improvement; in the past year we witnessed an impressive response from the medical community to advocate for patients and pursue humanism, equity and thoughtful care.

In this setting, medical students continue their journey through medical school, processing experiences and developing themselves as remarkable future physicians. At in-Training, we embrace our role in conveying the voices of medical students across the world. We aim to reflect the experiences and opinions of a diverse group of students, thereby accurately representing our community.

As the medical community continues to expand, we hope to adapt with it. Last year, we temporarily opened our doors to art submissions after seeing a need for showcasing artistic talent in our community. The response from medical student artists was impressive, and we decided to continue accepting art on a regular basis.

We look forward to reviewing your submissions, from news articles and creative writing to art.  We hope that our publication can provide you with a source of discussion, healthy discourse and support as you pursue your goals — through whichever medium you prefer.

We encourage our readers to start a dialogue with our authors, by commenting, sharing or even writing their own response pieces. Check out our social media, subscribe to our newsletter and keep an eye out for upcoming initiatives, including editor recruitment and our year-long Writers-in-Training internship
