The Mind’s Face (2022)

The Mind’s Face

Sarah Kurkowski (2022)
paint on canvas

What if I could see the emotions that flood my patient’s mind? What if I could know how much space anger, frustration, joy, sorrow, hope took up in their mind’s real estate? Would this shed light on their physical symptoms? On their disease process? On their life? If I could see their mind painted on their face, I could know them more. In this acrylic painting, a woman’s profile is made up of different areas of color. This represents how much of her current state of mind is influenced by these emotions: pink for hope, red for anger, blue for sorrow, green for frustration.
