Tryphina Mikhail is a third year medical student at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, FL class of 2021. In 2016, she graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences and a minor in health sciences. She enjoys crocheting, playing volleyball and lindy hop swing dancing in her free time. In the future, Tryphina would like to pursue a career in primary care and academic medicine.

I had been invited to the general surgery journal club. In the sweltering heat of a southern summer, I dressed as crisply as possible because I had no idea what to expect. While I embraced this opportunity, I had only been invited because another medical student had fallen ill.

Terms and Conditions

Training to become a physician is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also learning to impart that knowledge upon others — most importantly, our patients. But, in this process of knowledge transfer, is it possible that the information we deliver becomes akin merely to the terms and conditions of a software agreement, the obligatory pop-up hastily scrolled through and accepted by the user — in this case, the patient?

Ana Meza-Rochin is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. She is an immigrant from Mexico who moved to the United States in high school. She obtained her Bachelor in Science in health sciences from Arizona State University.
